Scratch Live 2.4.4 (Legacy)
Serato is pleased to announce the release of Serato Scratch Live 2.4.4, the latest free software update for Serato Scratch Live DJs.
Scratch Live 2.4.4 is primarily a maintenance release to continue the unparalleled commitment to stability and performance that Serato software is renowned for.
This version fixes some important issues for users such as:
- Fixed an issue where playing files from the CD drive or ejecting a CD caused a crash.
- Fixed the Kernel Panic crashes when hot-plugging the Rane SL 4 and improved hot plugging stability across all Rane devices.
- Scratch Live can now install on Windows 8 without the need to disable Windows security settings. (NB: Windows 8 is not currently officially supported by Serato).
- Fixed a bug where video files without audio were labelled as corrupt.
- Fixed an issue where you couldn't save cue points, loops or auto gain values to .mov or .flv files.
- Fixed an issue where you could get distortion when recording with the Rane Sixty-Two.
- Fixed an issue where no audio was being recorded in Mixtape when using the Rane Sixty-Eight.
- Fixed a bug with the Serato Video auto crossfader whereby it couldn't reach far left or right when set to a fast speed.
Alongside these changes to the software, there are also updated Rane Core Audio Drivers for use with other audio applications. These are no longer automatically installed when using the Scratch Live installer. Instead, they are now located in the Rane Device Drivers folder within the .dmg file. The Rane Core Audio drivers also have added support for OSX10.8 as well as some additional bug fixes.

The Sixty-Two, Sixty-Four, Sixty-Eight, and the SL3 require a firmware update to be compatible with Serato DJ 1.6.0 and newer.
- Caution to Rane Sixty-Two users: Due to backwards compatibility issues, the 2.14 firmware version is not to be used with Scratch Live (see below for details).
1. Install Serato DJ.
2. Open Serato DJ.
3. Connect your Rane device with a USB cable to the computer.
4. If the device does not connect, look for theInstall Driver button in the right-hand panel. Click it. This launches the Rane driver installer. Follow the install directions. A reboot will be required.
5. After the computer has rebooted, open the device’s control panel.
Windows: The device control panel icon is located in the Windows Control Panel.
Mac: The device control panel icon is located in the system preferences pane.
- Caution to Rane Sixty-Two users: Due to backwards compatibility issues, the 2.14 firmware version is not to be used with Scratch Live. If you have updated to the 2.14 firmware version and wish to use Scratch Live, please update your firmware to the 2.21 version. The 1.6.3 verison of Serato DJ includes the new driver needed to update the Rane Sixty-Two firmware to the latest 2.21 build.
6. If the Update Firmware panel is not grayed out, and the button is yellow, a firmware update is necessary. Click the Update Firmware button to update the device’s firmware.
7. Close the device control panel.
8. Open Serato DJ. Your Rane device should be recognized and connected with the decks visible.
WHAT IF THE RANE DEVICE IS STILL NOT RECOGNIZED?
Macintosh:
1. Close Serato DJ and disconnect the device’s USB cable.
2. Open the Audio MIDI Setup.app located in the Utilities folder in Applications.
3. Click the Window tab at the top of the screen, and click Show MIDI Window.
4. Locate your Rane device and click on it to enable the Remove Device button. The Sixty-Two is selected here.
5. Click the Remove Device button to remove the device.
6. Quit the Audio MIDI Setup app.
