Numark NV and NVII - My NV screens are not displaying wave forms. What should I do?
4 SERATO DJ INTRO - USER GUIDE 1.0 INTRODUCTION Welcome to the Serato DJ Intro 1.0 software manual. Serato DJ Intro is an integrated software and hardware system, designed to give music selectors and DJs new kinds of control.
- Is it just me, or is Serato DJ's BPM/beatgridding horrible? I'm coming from a Traktor Kontrol S4 and I finally got my DDJ-SZ last night and set it up immediately. I had already analyzed my library in Serato so I thought I was good to go when I got the controller.
- To re-analyze these files and calculate an auto BPM or auto gain value, drag them onto the Analyze Files button. Clicking Analyze Entire Library will remove analysation data from all your tracks and force Serato DJ to analyse all of your tracks again.
If your music files have not been analyzed in Serato prior to connecting your NV or NVII, your NV screens may not display the waveforms. There are few reasons this may occur:
- The files have not been analyzed in Serato.
- The file type is not supported by Serato.
- The file is corrupt.
Using the Analyze Files function in Serato helps detect file corruption, builds and saves waveform overviews, and calculates auto-gain and BPM values. This step is necessary to ensure that all of your files are ready to be used with your NV and NVII. The following guide will walk you through how to analyze your files in Serato DJ and what to do if you encounter an error.

Before You Begin
Many issues can be resolved by updating your software. Before you proceed with additional troubleshooting, make sure you're running the latest version of Serato DJ.
How to Analyze and Prepare Files for Serato
- To analyze files in Serato DJ, please run your Serato software in offline mode (with the NV/NVII USB cable disconnected from your hardware).
- Check off both Set Beat Grid and Set Auto BPM prior to analyzing your files. We recommend leaving your Range at None.
- Highlight the song that you wish to analyze.
- You could click the Analyze Files button to start the process or simply drag and drop your highlighted songs onto the Analyze Files button.
- Wait until this has finished analyzing all of your songs. When complete, your Analyze Files button will become un-highlighted.
Note: The auto BPM function will not be applied if the track already contains BPM information. If after analyzing the songs, you know the current BPM information was analyzed incorrectly for a particular track, double click on the BPM tag for the track and delete the BPM value before re-analyzing. To re-analyze these files and calculate an auto BPM or auto gain value, simply drag and drop them onto the Analyze Files button.
If you are unable to complete the analyzing of your files, see Serato's article Troubleshooting freezing and crashing while Analyzing Files for further assistance.
Corrupt Files - Everything You Need to Know
If a corrupt file is detected during the analyze process, Serato will tag the track with a corrupt file icon (pictured right). It is important that ANY corrupt files are removed from the library. Corrupt files can cause Serato to crash even if the file is not currently in use. If you're using an external hard drive or thumb drive, please delete these files from your Serato database. Keep in mind, when using an external hard drive or thumb drive, your files may need to be re-analyzed each time before using your NV.
To delete a song from the Serato library, navigate to the ALL section. Click on the song to select it and use the keyboard shortcut Control + Delete for PC users or Command + Delete for Mac users to delete the song (make sure the Protect Library option in Serato's setup is turned off).
